History
The monastery of Imbramowice was founded in the 1220s by Iwo Odrowąż, bishop of Kraków, as a house of Premonstratensian sisters. The monastic complex was badly damaged by the Tatars in 1260.
For a period in time in the 15th century, the sisters briefly moved to Busko before returning to Imbramowice. From the 16th century onwards, Imbramowice was home to a school. Imbramowice's medieval church was destroyed by fire in 1710 and rebuilt in the Baroque style.
Communal life was disrupted at Imbramowice in the 20th century, first during World War Two and then under Communist rule. In 1992, the sisters regained possession of the site.
