History

An early community of nuns at Saint-Just-en-Chaussée was replaced in 1119 by Augustinian canons on the initiative of Pierre de Dammartin, bishop of Beauvais. In 1146/47, the abbey joined the Premonstratensian Order. The community suffered badly in warfare during the late medieval and early modern period, and was badly damaged in fires on at least 4 occasions. Saint-Just-en-Chaussée became a commendatory abbey in 1582.

The abbey underwent major reconstruction in the mid-18th century, but was suppressed at the Revolution. In 1830, the former monastic complex was demolished and nothing remains today.
