History
The abbey of St Vincent in Wrocław was founded in the 12th century as a Benedictine community. In the 1190s, apparently at the initiative of Bolesław I, the monastery joined the Premonstratensian order. It was a regionally important abbey. The abbey church was rebuilt in the 13th century.
The abbey of St Vincent suffered damage during the Hussite Wars in the 15th century. In 1529, the original medieval monastery was demolished, and the Premonstratensian brothers moved to a new location inside the city walls of Wrocław.
The abbey was suppressed in 1810. Only some architectural fragments of the original building survive, incorporated into later structures.
