History
Żukowo was founded in 1209 by Mściwoj I, duke of Pomerania. At least two of Mściwoj's daughters and a number of other members of the ducal family entered the religious life there. Żukowo housed a school, which was particularly known for its training in the Kashubian style of embroidery. The monastery was badly damaged in the 15th century during the Hussite Wars.
The monastery of Żukowo was suppressed in 1834. The former monastic church became a parish church, but much of the rest of the monastic complex was demolished.
