History
Valprofonde was a community of women dependent on the Premonstratensian abbey of Saint-Marien d'Auxerre. It was founded on land given by Louis VII. Its history is obscure, and the community appears to have been dissolved during the 13th century.
Its church survived, and is today a parish church. It was rebuilt on two occasions in the late 15th and late 19th centuries.
