History
An Augustinian community was founded at Vermand ca. 1068. Its church burned down in 1142. Premonstratensians established a community at Vermand in 1144 at the instigation of Simon de Vermandois, bishop of Noyon. The first brothers came from Mont-Saint-Martin.
Vermand was always a relatively modest house. It became a commendatory abbey in 1544. The abbey was destroyed by Spanish forces in 1557. Vermand was suppressed in 1790.
