History
The abbey of Nowy Sącz was founded ca. 1410 by Władysław II Jagiełło, king of Poland, around a pre-existing church and hospital. That church was badly damaged in a fire in 1611 and underwent renovations in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The abbey of Nowy Sącz was suppressed in 1784. The church was taken over in 1831 by Jesuits, and today is a parish church.
