History
A parish church dependent on the Premonstratensian community of Knechtsteden. It was given to Knechtsteden in the 12th century by the counts of Maubach, and remained in its possession until the 18th century. The current church on the site largely dates to the 15th century, but underwent renovations in the 18th and 19th century.
It was a parish church until the 1890s. The building was badly damaged during World War Two, but underwent restoration in the 1980s.
