History
A priory dependent on the Premonstratensian abbey of Želiv, which was in existence by 1257. Little is known about its history. There are references to priors until the mid-14th century; after this point, Kněžice appears to have become a simple parish church.
In 1547, the abbey of Želiv sold off the property.
