History

The priory of Renissart was likely founded in the mid-12th century, as a dependent house on the Premonstratensian abbey of Ninove. In the later 12th and 13th centuries, Ninove continued to acquire lands in the area.

The surviving buildings at Renissart date to the 17th century. The community was suppressed at the Revolution.
