History
Monster was a dependent community on the Premonstratensian abbey of Middelburg in the later Middle Ages. It was possibly a priory during the Middle Ages; if so, it had become a parish church in the possession of Middelburg by the 16th century.
The current church on the site dates to the 14th/15th centuries, although it was substantially rebuilt following a major fire in 1901. It is presently a Reformed parish church.
