History
Trzebiatów was founded by Anastasia of Greater Poland, duchess of Pomerania. A group of sisters arrived from Mariengaarde in 1235 to help strengthen the new house. The monastery was known for its brewery during the Middle Ages.
Elizabeth Cruciger, an important early Lutheran poet and hymn writer, was briefly a sister at the house in the early 16th century. Trzebiatów was suppressed ca. 1560. Nothing remains of the former monastic complex, the remains of which lie beneath Trzebiatów Palace, now home to a municipal library.
