History
The priory of Kaposfő was founded ca. 1252 by brothers Mojs and Elek, sons of Mojs I, Palatine of Hungary.
Kaposfő was suppressed in 1552 following a period of turmoil. Much of the site was in ruins by the 18th century. It was partially excavated in the 2010s, and findings seemed to indicate that the priory church was substantially rebuilt in the mid- to late 14th century.
