History

Herentals was founded in 1411 by Arnold (or Aert) van Crayenhem and Johanna van Steyvoort, lord and lady of Grabbendonk. The first sisters came from Leliendaal.

The community of Herentals was suppressed in 1796, and its church was demolished shortly afterwards.
