History
Founded ca. 1180 by Ralph de Dene, the Premonstratensians soon moved from Otteham to Bayham because the location was considered inhospitable for a large monastic community.
Otteham remained in the possession of the abbey of Bayham as a grange with an associated chapel. There is a surviving mid-14th-century chapel on the site.
