History
Harchies was founded ca. 1160 as a house of sisters dependent on the Premonstratensian abbey of Vicoigne. Much of the site was badly damaged by a fire ca. 1170. Although it was rebuilt, as a monastic community Harchies vanishes from the historical record after this point.
From the later Middle Ages until the 18th century, Harchies was a parish church dependent on the abbey of Vermand. Its history is obscure.
