History

Gérigny was founded before 1131 by Geoffroi, count of Porcien, and was at first a house of sisters. It was dependent on Cuissy. In 1199, Cuissy exchanged the site for some other land with Roger de Rozoy, lord of Chaumont. In 1219, Roger, lord of Rozoy, gave the site to the abbey of Chaumont, which established a men's priory there. This priory appears to have been in ruins by the 15th century, and the chapel was demolished ca. 1700.
