History
Bonlieu may have been home to sisters associated with the abbey of Septfontaines-en-Bassigny. In 1177, one Lambert de Gronay gave land at Bonlieu to Septfontaines on his daughters' entry to the religious life. It is not otherwise clear if it was home to Premonstratensian sisters.
It later became a grange. There was a chapel on the site, rebuilt in the 1690s, which was destroyed in the aftermath of the Revolution.
(Not to be confused with Sainte-Anne de Bonlieu-sur-Roubion, which was a Cistercian house during the Middle Ages and was only home to a Premonstratensian community, 1871-2014.)
