History
Blackwose was initially founded as a dependent community of Lavendon before 1158, perhaps by Geoffrey de Mandeville, lord of Saltwood. As a result of scandal, Blackwose was transferred to the abbey of Bradsole shortly after 1203/04 as a result of this.
Damaged during the invasion of 1216, the priory was restored but later became a grange. It was dissolved ca. 1377. Nothing remains at the site today.
