History
A small priory (or women's community?) dependent on the Premonstratensian abbey of Mariënweerd. Hendrik IV, count of Kessel, and his wife Othelend van Gulik, gave land at Kessel to Mariënweerd in 1219.
The property remained in the possession of Mariënweerd until 1561, when it was given to the dean of the diocese of Roermond. The last of the buildings were demolished in the early 19th century.
