History
The priory of La Fontaine-Harouys was founded by the 1230s by Guillaume, lord of La Guerche. It was initially a possession of the abbey of Montfort-sur-Meu.
It went through a period of decline in the later Middle Ages. By the 1620s, it was in the possession of the Premonstratensian abbey of Lieu-Dieu. It remained in Premonstratensian possession until the French Revolution.
