Built as a parish church in the 12th century, Oxney originally belonged to the Premonstratensians of Langdon Abbey. The church fell into ruin after the Reformation.

By the 18th century, it was in use as a barn. In the late 19th century, the ruins were re-consecrated as a family burial ground for the owners of nearby Oxney Court. The site is today in private hands.
