History
Béhaune was founded as a xenodochium (hospital) by 1227, in which year it became affiliated with the Premonstratensian Order under the influence of Pierre Arnaud II, lord of Luxe, Ostibarret and Lantabat. It was initially a double community.
The xenodochium catered largely to pilgrims because of its location on one of the main routes to the shrine of Compostela. The priory was badly damaged in the 16th century.
