History
Lochgarten was founded by 1144 by Constantine and Giselbert, canons of Lorch, as a Benedictine priory. In 1146, Emicho von Leiningen, bishop of Würzburg, transferred the house to the Premonstratensian Order. The first sisters came from Tückelhausen. In 1324, the community merged with that of Schäftersheim and the sisters moved there.
Nothing now remains of the monastic complex, and a farm today occupies the site.
