History

The Premonstratensian house of Rode was founded in the 1140s by the lords of Querfurt. The first brothers came from Magdeburg. Rode was at its height in the 13th century. The monastery was badly damaged during the Peasants' War in 1525.

Rode was suppressed in 1543. The former monastic complex then passed into private lands.
