History
A Premonstratensian house was founded at Kalavryta by Geoffroi II de Villehardouin, later prince of Achaea. Its history is highly obscure. Backmund has suggested that it was founded on the site of an earlier Orthodox monastery, and that the site was later taken over by Cistercians.
