History

The abbey of Moncetz was founded by 1147 by André de Baudement and Agnès, lord and lady of Braine. It was never a very large community. The abbey was sacked in 1650, and underwent a period of major reconstruction at the beginning of the 18th century.

Moncetz was suppressed in 1790. The former monastic complex was demolished by the end of the 19th century.
