History
Rothenkirchen was founded in the early 12th century as an Augustinian community by Werner I of Bolanden. It joined the Premonstratensian Order ca. 1135.
It was badly damaged by the Peasants' War in 1525. Rothenkirchen was suppressed in 1554. Today only the former refectory survives of the monastic complex.
