History

Originally founded around mid-century at nearby Gambaiseuil, the community had transferred to Grandchamp by 1208. In 1214, Simon de Montfort and his wife Amicia made donations to Grandchamp.

Following a period of destruction during the Hundred Years' War, the abbey was rebuilt ca. 1400. It became a commendatory abbey from 1540.
