History
The knight Albert Flohenges gave land at Blanzey to the Premonstratensians of Sainte-Marie-au-Bois by 1162. The abbess of Bouxières gave her rights over the church there to the Premonstratensian Order in the 1160s. For much of the Middle Ages, Blanzey was a priory dependent on Sainte-Marie-au-Bois but by the early 18th century was a parish church with one Premonstratensian living there as curate.
The Premonstratensian community was suppressed at the Revolution. For a time the priory church served as a chandler's workshop. It was reconsecrated ca. 1840 and is today a parish church. The church and its crypt, which still survive, dates to the late 12th-15th century.
