History

Selincourt was founded in 1130 by Gautier I Tyrel, lord of Poix. The first brothers came from Dommartin. The lords of Poix would remain closely tied to the abbey in the Middle Ages. In the aftermath of the Fourth Crusade, the abbey received a relic from Constantinople, reputed to be a tear of Christ. This relic made the abbey a focal point of pilgrimage.

In 1446, much of the abbey was destroyed in a fire and it was deserted for a period of some 30 years before it was rebuilt. It became a commendatory abbey in 1544.

Selincourt was suppressed at the Revolution and the monastic complex was destroyed. Today the site of the abbey is occupied by a farm known as the Ferme de la Sainte-Larme.
