History
Originally a priory of canons frounded in 1126 by Thierry, castellan of Bar, in 1140 the religious community at Jandeures was ceded to the Premonstratensian abbey of Riéval. It was initially a double house, with the sisters later moving to Plainemont. The abbey church was rebuilt following a fire in 1405, and the rest of the monastic complex in the first half of the 16th century.
Jandeures became a commendatory abbey in 1744, and was suppressed in 1790. A fire in 1777 destroyed much of the abbey's library. In the 19th century, the site was turned into a private residence. Parts of the medieval monastic complex were incorporated into the château.
