History
Originally an Augustinian community, in 1155 Château-l'Abbaye became a Premonstratensian community, with support from Evrard Raoul, castellan of Tournai. Its founding members coming from Vicoigne.
It was never a large community, and was abandoned between the late 14th and mid-15th centuries. Its cloister was rebuilt in the first half of the 16th century. The community was dissolved at the Revolution. Nothing remains of the former monastic complex.
