History
The abbey of La Chapelle-aux-Planches was founded by husband and wife Simon de Beaufort and Emeline, likely between 1139-1143. There were 25 brothers there in 1212.
La Chapelle-aux-Planches became a commendatory abbey in 1530, and was suppressed in 1790. Much of the former monastic complex was demolished shortly thereafter.
