History
A parish church dependent on the Premonstratensian abbey of Steinfeld. It was given to Steinfeld in 1208 by Lothar, count of Ahr and Hochstaden, and remained in its possession until 1802.
The church was demolished and rebuilt in the later 13th century. It was badly damaged by warfare in the 1640s and rebuilt in the 1660s. It suffered further damage in WW2 and was burned down in 1952. It was renovated in the 1980s/90s, and is now used as an events space.
