At least two of Mściwoj's daughters and a number of other members of the ducal family entered the religious life there. Żukowo housed a school, which was particularly known for its training in the Kashubian style of embroidery. The monastery was badly damaged in the 15th century during the Hussite Wars. <br /><br />The monastery of Żukowo was suppressed in 1834. The former monastic church became a parish church, but much of the rest of the monastic complex was demolished. The church was badly damaged on a number of occasions in the Middle Ages, during the Mongol invasion in 1241, and a major fire in the 15th century. <br /><br />Zsámbek was given to the Pauline fathers in the late 15th century. During Turkish rule, the monastery was suppressed and the site was fortified. In the 1190s, apparently at the initiative of Bolesław I, the monastery joined the Premonstratensian order. It was a regionally important abbey. The abbey church was rebuilt in the 13th century. <br /><br />The abbey of St Vincent suffered damage during the Hussite Wars in the 15th century. In 1529, the original medieval monastery was demolished, and the Premonstratensian brothers moved to a new location inside the city walls of Wrocław. <br /><br />The abbey was suppressed in 1810.
