In addition to Richmudis and her three daughters, the house's earliest sisters likely came from the Premonstratensian house at Dortmund. It was a wealthy foundation.

Until 1327 the community was under the patronage of Knechsteden. <text>Combelongue was founded ca. 1138 by Arnaud, count of Pailhas, whose son Antoine became its first abbot. It was closely associated with the comital family of Foix, and collaborated with them to establish the bastide of Campagne in 1254. It also helped to found the bastide of Rimont in 1272. In 1446, the brothers left the monastery for a more secure location at La Bastide de Sérou.

Combelongue became a commendatory abbey in ca. 1530. The buildings at Combelongue were renovated in 1680. It was suppressed in 1790, and the abbey buildings burned in 1796. Much of the cloisters were destroyed, but the former abbey church survived.</text>

<text>Originally founded in 1189 at Swainby by Halewise de Glanville, the Premonstratensian community was re-established at Coverham in 1212 under the patronage of Ranulph Fitz-Robert, lord of Middleham. In the 1270s, the patronage of the abbey passed to the powerful Neville family, but Coverham faced serious economic challenges and damage in warfare in the 14th century. It recovered, and became a powerful regional monastic institution in the later Middle Ages.

Coverham was formally dissolved in 1536, but became a rallying point during the ill-fated Pilgrimage of Grace in 1540. The property passed into private hands in 1557, and the monastic complex had fallen into a ruinous state by the 1670s. Some partial ruins survive today, largely incorporated into later buildings.</text>

<text>Croxton was founded by 1162 as a priory on land given by Guillaume I, count of Boulogne. It was later elevated to the status of abbey. The heart of John I of England was buried in Croxton's abbey church. The majority of the monastic complex was destroyed by fire in 1326, but it had been largely rebuilt by 1500.

Following the Dissolution, the site was granted to Thomas, Earl of Rutland, who built a manor house there. Nothing remains of the former monastic complex today. The site was partly excavated in 1926.</text>
