The Sisters of Prémontré

Banner

The Sisters of Prémontré database brings together information about some of the women who were part of the Premonstratensian Order between the twelfth and seventeenth centuries whom I have encountered in my research. It aims to collect and organize the often scant information about these women in the hopes of facilitating further studies into their lives. Initially, most of the women included here were members of houses in what are today France and Belgium; over time, I have begun to expand the geographical scope of this database.

Given the nature of the surviving sourcebase, this is neither an exhaustive database nor a statistically representative sample.
